Wi-Fi specifications will enable new wireless devices to find and connect with other devices without the need for routers.

Specification of the new Wi-Fi called Wi-Fi Direct has just been announced by the Wi-Fi Alliance, an industry group that promotes innovation in Wi-Fi technology.

They claim, by making it easier to connect directly with devices equipped with Wi-Fi the other, most likely this new specification will challenge the existence of other wireless technologies like Bluetooth.

CNet, Thursday (15/10/2009) launch, the workings of Direct Wi-Fi enabled devices equipped with Wi-Fi such as mobile phones, cameras, printers, computers, keyboards, and headphones to connect by Wi-Fi devices other individual or multi - devices at once.

Specification supports data rate Wi-Fi standard and can connect with each other device within approximately 100 meters.

This capability directly reduce the need for Wi-Fi router in some places because of changing gadgets into a mini Wi-Fi access point.

It also beat the Bluetooth technology, which until now is still often used to provide a similar facility peer to peer connection between devices such as connecting a headset with a music player or mobile phone. This method is used to provide high-speed wireless connectivity within a short distance between devices.

Meanwhile, Wi-Fi specification Direct also offers the same functionality. The difference is, these technologies make it easier for devices to find each other and connected to each other. Wi-Fi Alliance plans to soon publish the specifications of peer to peer Wi-Fi recently and marketed in 2010.
