This is not a story that's ridiculous. American Airlines conducted research sponsored by HP, the results revealed that passengers prefer aircraft surf facilities such as Wi-Fi rather than food.

Quoted from TG Daily, Wednesday (27/5/2009), survey results show more than 47 percent of the passenger business said the Wi-Fi is the most important part of comfort at the airport.

"We know that these businesses rely heavily on technology as much as possible in order to always be productive to run their businesses during the trip," said Manuel de Oyarzabal, Director of Customer Research for American Airlines.

This view is further supported by the most recent survey indicates that in 2013 there will be 200 million broadband connections in the plane. Some U.S. airlines already provide Wi-Fi facilities in the plane so that passengers can still surf during the flight.
